Mother nature is not a force to be reckoned with. It was after all, just over 120 years since the last volcanic eruption at Mount Tongariro (1897). She has been sculpting the beautiful Tongariro Crossing for thousands of years. Together we must help by acting with the incorporation of Environmentally friendly procedures, to help preserve the natural beauty of the Tongariro Crossing.
Mountain Air operates daily scenic fixed-wing flights from 8am to 5pm (weather permitting) over Tongariro National Park’s unique terrain. Summer flights are available up to dusk. Flights take in the volcanic craters of the three volcanoes (Tongariro, Ngauruhoe, and Ruapheu), the Emerald Lakes, Blue Lake, and the Tama Lakes. Bookings are preferable, but flights leave on demand and require a minimum of two people.
