In The News:
Parking Limits for Tongariro Crossing
The Department of Conservation has introduced a four-hour parking limit for the Tongariro Crossing, and hikers who park for more than the allocated time will now have their wheels clamped. We recommend you take advantage of the daily shuttles from our motel. Click "Read More' to get further information on the parking limits.
The Tongariro Crossing
This is a population attraction and super busy, and many guests choose our motel as their home base. (We offer daily transport and are the closest town to the crossing) Make sure you are fully prepared, as there of plenty of recent articles in the news lately about those who were not! We have written a blog with everything you need to consider. Click Read More to have a look.
Did You Know?
Do you know what a Crampon is?
These steel spikes are used on Winter walks where the snow covered ground is steep and potentially icy. By strapping crampons onto a good firm pair of boots you can have much better grip. Not every track on the mountain needs crampons, but they are typically used on the Winter Tongariro Alpine Crossing trip. (You won't need them this time of year!)
Crampons, among other items needed for the hike, can be hired from Ski Biz, a local Equipment Hire Shop.
What is the best time to Trout fish in Turangi?

Reviews and Feedback:
We want to make sure every guest enjoys their stay with us. But don’t take our word for it, just look at what our guests are saying:
"We were on a road trip from Auckland to Wellington and decided to stop at Turangi. We were pleased with our choice of accommodation. The unit was clean, tidy, well laid out and had all that we required. We had dinner at the restaurant and can say the food was divine. We would happily stay again."

"The rooms were very spacious and well equipped. Ours had two bedrooms a double and a twin. The rooms also contained a well-equipped kitchenette and a table and chairs so it would be easy for you to cook meals for yourselves.
A big surprise was the quality of the meals. These were served in the small restaurant area next to the reception and bar, Nice buffet with cold and hot choices for breakfast. The evening meals were waitress served and there was a nice selection of dishes. Food was well presented and tasted good, really enjoyed the orange roughy fish.
A very good base for doing the Tongariro Alpine Crossing from."
